i went to Tallinn in Estonia last week, taking the ferry from Helsinki. the ferry is a ferry the way costco is a store. it had a two-story duty free shop. i bought what i thought was a juicebox with barbie on it. turns out it was pink barbie milk. it's unclear why ferries are still classified as 'ground transportation'.

i got in around 3:30pm and the first thing i do in a new city is go to the grocery store. i love to learn languages, and perusing a grocery store is one of the best ways to do that- mostly because i have severe crohn's disease and i need to know what is in the food i eat so i don't shit myself to death. i found nothing enticing and opted to go to Best Fries in the old town. they were as advertised.

if you've ever looked up Tallinn, every travel blog full of ads will mention the Balti Jaam Turg which is a market adjacent to the central train station. most people go there for the food or the vintage shops that are right at the top of the escalators. if you're willing to walk all the way to the back, past several tables of underwear and random shit from ali express, there's a shop full of soviet-era paraphernalia. presiding over every artifact, a copper bust of Lenin with a sticker that said "700lbs".

i did what any normal person would do and began running the logistics. could this fit in the overhead bin? during covid i did a speed run of the entire russian course on duolingo, so i asked the man sitting nearby if he говорил по-русски, and if yes, возможна ли доставка?

Estonia was the 45th country i've visited and like all trips, i leave the 700lb Lenin where i found it. i never found out if it ships. its presumably still there if you want to run the numbers yourself.
